I am a female photographer working in the medium of digital and analogue photography.
Previous photography projects have included Preconception, a social project that looked at disability within the photography industry. This is of interest to me personally as I, too, am disabled. The project explored the work of six disabled photographers to raise awareness that disability is more than a subject to be photographed by non-disabled photographers. With the project, I wanted to show the exceptional work that photographers with disabilities produce to make the industry more inclusive.
My latest project, Invisible Worlds, explores how four visually impaired artists are using their art to explore either their own visual impairment or the visual impairment of others.
The world of art and photography has long been the domain of the sighted, and this project seeks to make this world more inclusive. Only by levelling the playing field between the non-sighted and sighted worlds will we overcome the difficulties faced within the art world by those with visual impairments.
